The tube

The whisk travels in a rigid clear tube with a push-on lid. It stops the prongs being crushed in a bag. At home, take the whisk out and let it dry in open air.

Material

Solid bamboo. No plastic in the whisk itself, no glue. Approx. 11 cm tall.

How to use

Soften the prongs in warm water for 30 seconds before the first use. Sift 1-2 g of matcha into the bowl, add about 70 ml of water at 80°C, and whisk briskly in a W shape with your wrist until a fine foam covers the surface.

Care

Rinse in warm water only, no soap. Shake off and let it air-dry before it goes back in the tube – bamboo sealed in while damp will not dry. At home, dry it on a whisk holder so the prongs keep their shape.

When to replace

With daily use a bamboo whisk lasts about 2-3 months; at 2-3 times a week, around 6 months. When prongs start to split or the foam gets coarse, it is time for a fresh one. See whisks.
